Communication
For children to be successful and ready for secondary school, it is important that they can communicate confidently, through oral and written communication.
At Wildmoor Heath, we ensure that all children learn to read well and have the confidence to speak to a range of audiences.
School council
Our enthusiastic school council representatives meet every other week to discuss school matters and areas to improve. Their latest mission is to further improve our lunchtime provision, so they held a cake sale to raise money!
Oracy
Here is an example of Year 4 children who have been given the opportunity to share their presentations and talk about insights into their own cultures.
English
In English lessons we encourage speaking and listening activities, including story telling, role-play and discussions.
French
From Year 3 we teach French weekly. We teach lessons through stories, rhymes and songs. The children also learn French using 'French' Phonics.
Computing
Arts and music
The children also communicate through art and music. Here is some of the silhouette artwork from Year 3 for Remembrance Day.
Inclusive communication
At Wildmoor Heath, we work hard to provide an inclusive curriculum. We use a variety of visual aids to support communication for our learners. We use widget symbols to introduce new vocabulary and we have learnt a few BSL signs too!
