A shaduf is a hand-operated device for lifting water which was invented in ancient times and is still used in Egypt.  As part of the children's DT project the children made their own shaduf.  Linking their class topic of the Ancient Egyptians with a shaduf, the children learnt about their history and their importance for collecting water from the Nile. They designed and make their own.
