London Irish Rugby Day

Last Sunday saw a group of staff and 20 Year 4-6 children spend a day with London Irish RFC.  The first part of the day was a ‘coaching clinic’ and ‘teacher education’ session at Leighton Park School in Reading.  The children got 2 hours of high quality coaching from London Irish coaches, while the staff were able to pick up tips for teaching rugby in PE lessons.  After the coaching clinic, we went to the Madejski Stadium to watch London Irish take on Worcester in the Aviva Premiership.  Wildmoor Heath children formed the guard of honour – waving flags - as the London Irish players ran on to the pitch at the start of the match.

Despite the cold weather and an early start, the children did brilliantly and were rewarded with a London Irish win!  It was also great to see so many parents come along to watch the game and support their children and the school.  We are looking forward to working with London Irish RFC in the future and thank them for another great opportunity!
